The Trail Days Horseshoe Tournament was held on Saturday Aug 6th. Citizens are still concerned about large gatherings but still there was a good turnout for the event. There were eight teams that competed in the tournament mostly Pine Bluffs residents. Each team consisted of two participants and played in a round robin contest. Stuart Lerwick, the Pine Bluffs Hornets football and basketball stand-out athlete has another title to his credits. Lerwick has been named as the Wyoming News Now Prep Athlete of the Year. The shoes are tied and the Fitbits were checked for start time. The annual Longhorn Stampede 5K fun run/walk was on Saturday August 6th at 7:00 a.m. There were 48 runners and seven dogs. Laramie County Ranch Rodeo rides again. The teams were lined up to do their events for the beginning of the Laramie County Fair which started on July 23rd with the Ranch Rodeo. The Ranch Rodeo has four events. Three of the events are done with a team of four. The teams start with branding a calf. Pine Bluffs, Burns, and Grover had their last games of the summer. On Thursday July 21 the Burns and Pine Bluffs ball fields were full with players and parents. One of our local high school alumni achieved one of her goals in May by competing in a national level track meet. A Burns High School student placed fifth at the state High School rodeo competition. Colby Smith from Burns rode at the Wyoming State finals in Buffalo, Wyoming.
