The Pine Bluffs council met for a special meeting Tuesday, June 25 to discuss the purchase of Tyler and Trisha Kimzey’s land at 1283 North Main Street in Pine Bluffs.
The contract for purchase the council considered included the provision that the council has until February 1 to decide not to buy the land without penalty of losing their $50,000 earnest money.
Town engineer Chris Lidstone helped the council understand the benefits of this block of land with the water available proven by the three existing wells. He added money might be available for the water piece of the purchase. Lidstone explained many tests would have to be performed and passed satisfactorily through Wyoming Rural Water and Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, but felt the February 1 deadline allowed enough time to perform the tests and investigate funding opportunities.
“I received a non-solicited email from a resident who addressed getting more land for Pine Bluffs,” mayor Bill Shain said. “I am very pleased with this opportunity.” Shain added the town was mainly buying the land for the water but a private investor might come in to improve the land with the town.
The council approved the contract to purchase the land for $1.3 million with $50,000 earnest money given.
The Pine Bluffs town council regualar meeting was held Monday, July 1.
