The Pine Bluffs Post welcomes new publisher

My Monday in early November, was beginning to look bleak, before I got the call.

I was backtracking from Cheyenne to Fort Collins the weekend before, after I learned Interstate 80 was closed due to a crash.

I could have stayed in Cheyenne, but doing so would have meant arriving late to work Monday, and I had too much work to do in Saratoga, and, for some reason, I decided it would be a good idea not to take my laptop on this particular trip.

Backtracking to Fort Collins to take Highway 287 back to Saratoga was my only option.

I got back to Saratoga at 2 a.m. Monday. I was extremely tired with a long work day ahead of me. Everything was working up to be a less-than perfect Monday, to say the least. But just as my morale was withering, the phone rang. On the other end was upper management in my news company, offering me the publisher's position in Pine Bluffs. My Monday, at that point, just became a lot better, despite how far behind I was with my work.

I'm happy to announce my official transfer as a reporter at the Saratoga Sun to the publisher position at the Pine Bluffs Post. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity.

I graduated from the University of Wyoming December 2011 with a degree in journalism and began work for the Rawlins Daily Times. After about a year in Rawlins, I left to pursue my interest in journalism further at the Saratoga Sun. Covering Saratoga for about 10 months soon led me here to Pine Bluffs. I couldn't be more excited.

I can easily say writing is my greatest passion. I feel it is what God put me on Earth to do, and working for the Pine Bluffs Post allows me to continue writing, and make a living at the same time.

I have to admit I was reluctant about the town of Pine Bluffs. I had never heard of the town, and I was still in grade school the first time I had passed by.

But all of my feelings of skepticism passed when I visited the community several weeks ago.

I was looking for an apartment and wanted to get a feel for the community. Pine Bluffs reminds me of my hometown, Sinclair, Wyo. Although Pine Bluffs is larger than Sinclair, it has that same small town feel. It's mostly quiet here, with the exception of the occasional passing train, just like my hometown.

I like Pine Bluffs; it's great. However, I am certain I have only scratched the surface of what this community is. But I am eager to learn more. I'd love to meet some of the people living here, whether it be for coffee, or just stopping by the office. I think getting to know you will help me get a better feel for the community.
