Twenty-one student athletes from Burns attended the University of Wyoming Men's basketball game against Nevada Saturday afternoon as a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Hoops Day. Eric Allen, FCA advisor, said the students listened to a worship band at First Christian Church in Laramie before the game.
Luke Anderson, former UW football player, spoke to the student athletes about his walk with Christ.
Ernie Mecca, Wyoming FCA State Director, who coordinated the event spoke with the students about the importance of FCA. Mecca explained about summer sports camps and showed a video of last year's camps.
All students going into grades 7-12 in the fall of 2014 are invited to attend FCA sports camp from June 24-27 in Spearfish, S.D. The kids pick a sport to play all week and also spend time learning spiritual lessons.
After eating pizza, the group walked to the UW basketball game and watched the Cowboys defeat Nevada in overtime.
FCA Hoops Day is a great event. FCA uses sports as a vehicle to encourage people toward faith in Christ. The students who went had a great time at the game and heard a great message.
