Fans attending the Pine Bluffs game against Potter/Dix Friday night witnessed a tough and aggressive battle. But after a while, the toughness turned into scoring for the Hornets. Pine Bluffs blew away the Nebraska neighbor, 71-44.
"I thought we played very well against Potter," Coach William Gray said. "Our defensive energy was great, and we rebounded as well as we ever have."
Waking up from a win Saturday morning, the boys headed to Lusk on the high of a strong win. However the fuel from the night before ran out in the third quarter and the Tigers gained momentum with a win, 60-46.
"We did a lot of good things, but we didn't take care of the ball," Gray said. "We didn't rebound at times. This coming week we have two very important games. If we win both we will be the No. 2 seed at regionals." Lose and Pine Bluffs will take No. 3 seed in Cheyenne next weekend.
Before regionals, Southeast and Burns both come into the Hornet's nest, Friday and Saturday. During the Burns game on Saturday, the seniors will be honored for their commitment and efforts for the team.
