Moisture from rapid snow melting in Laramie County would have been a welcome sight for many farmers last week, if it were not for frost.
Local farmer Greg Gorss said, without frozen grounds, the water would have soaked into the dirt, preventing flooding and benefiting crops.
"We are awful glad to see the water going through, but not the frost," Gross said.
Instead, frozen soil prevented water from seeping into the ground, causing water to run off and pool in lower areas, said Meteorologist Steve Rubin with the National Weather Service in Cheyenne.
