Pine Bluffs junior breaks Kimball Invitational record, aims for 2A state record

The Hornets track and field team claimed yet another record at the Kimball Invitational Saturday after junior Scott Gross's discus throw measured 152 feet, 1 inch. But Gross has his sights set higher.

"I am happy because it was the first meet of the year and I still have a long ways to go before bigger meets start to happen," Gross said. "It gives me a lot of time to get better."

The throw shattered previous Kimball Invitational record of 126 feet, 3 inches, set by Josh Osienger of Mitchell, Neb., in 2007, by about 25 feet. The throw also marked Gross's personal best distance. Gross's previous...
