Things don't always work out the way they are supposed to, and such was the case Monday night. The dirt to act as a buffer between the concrete debris and the surface of Beech Street never showed up, so the process of demolishing the overpass was delayed. However, once it was a go the residents in the area were treated to the constant pounding of the pile driver as it turned the concrete mass into 'popcorn', which made it easier to clean up. By Tuesday morning a path had been cleared for traffic, and the crews started preparing to repeat the process all over again on Wednesday night, on the Parsons Street overpass. Once that is complete, the Muddy Creek overpass will come down over a period of days, beginning April 20.
