Finds place to rest, practice and prepare in Pine Bluffs
Held high the contrabass bugle blares as the performers practice for the show in Laramie later that day. For a few moments they would march to a metronomic beat, then stop, receive directive notes and start again. Though the drills were demanding the smiles and camaraderie was wide spread.
At 3:30 am on the morning of July 9, four buses rolled quietly into town carrying 150 young musicians traveling together with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corps. In Pine Bluffs they found a place to rest, practice and prepare for their next competition in Laramie. A fifth truck, the food truck, parked and quickly set about work preparing food for their young charges.
One of those cooks, Sue Bailey, was a Drum Corps member from 1977-1980, and is on the board of directors. With her morning routine, and breakfast completed, she provided a golf cart tour highlighting the hopes and goals of the group...
