Hartman selected as next Laramie Co Librarian

With the position vacant less than three months, the Laramie County Library System (LCLS) Board of

Trustees have selected Carey D. Hartmann as the next County Librarian. 

Hartmann is the first County Librarian to be appointed by the Board of Trustees in nearly 25 years. The regional search for this position turned up a number of qualified candidates, but none had the winning combination of leadership skills, understanding of the library's purpose and functions, and ability to maintain fiscal responsibility, quite like Hartmann.

"From the start of our search, Carey Hartmann displayed an excellent command of the issues facing libraries and how to face them," said Khale Lenhart, Chair of the LCLS Board of Directors. "She has a love of libraries that is unmatched and has the knowledge, experience, and passion to lead this organization. We look forward to working with her as our library system continues to serve the Laramie County community.

Hartmann has served, most recently, as the Interim County Librarian for LCLS, after the previous County Librarian, Lucie Osborn, retired in June. Hartmann has served as the Deputy County Librarian since 1990. She received her Master in Library Science from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wyoming. Her new position is effective immediately.
