Adult Book Discussion:
In The Country of Men
Tuesday, Sept. 1, 7-9 p.m.
Beginning this month, the Pine Bluffs Branch Library will host the reading and discussion series Muslim Journeys.
The first book in the series will be In the Country of Men by Hisham Matar. This series is offered by the Wyoming Humanities Council and is free and open to the public. Visit the library to register and pick up a copy of the book. (Adults; Pine Bluffs Branch)
The discussion group will meet at the Pine Bluffs Branch Library, Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, and Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. The discussions are free and open to the public. To register and pick up the discussion books, contact the Pine Bluffs Library at 110 E 2nd Street in Pine Bluffs or call 307-245-3646.
Participants in Muslim Journeys will read and discuss In the Country of Men by Hisham Matar, House of Stone: A Memoir of Home, Family, and a Lost Middle East by Anthony Shadid, Dreams of Trespass: Tales of a Harem Girlhood by Fatima Mernissi, and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.
The series is designed to open doors to the experiences of adults and children living in Muslim-majority societies, and demonstrate the rich diversity of experience, the variety of Muslim opinions, and confirm our shared values.
Elaine Hayes, Assistant Manager of Reference Services and Special Collections Librarian, returns to lead the discussions.
