You know, it’s not that I don’t have anything better to write about, but I think newspapers can also be used as an educational tool, to explain the meaning behind certain events and celebrations. Last week I talked about Chanukah, and this week it is Kwanzaa.
While Kwanzaa is not considered a religious celebration, like Chanukah and Christmas, it does fall during the Christian holiday season, and is meant to be a time of sharing, and the gathering of families and friends. Kwanzaa is a social and communal holiday that was born out of the civil rights movement.
