Steven Eugene Mikesell

Steven Eugene Mikesell, 67, passed away May 22, 2016 at his home in Laramie, WY.

Steve was born September 27, 1948 in Blackfoot, ID to Eugene L. and Doris (Butler) Mikesell. He moved with his family to a farm near Carpenter, WY in 1953. Steve graduated from Burns High School in 1966. He loved sports and participated in basketball and track and was on the Burns High School 1966 State Basketball Championship team. In later years he enjoyed bowling and golf and watching sports of all kinds.

Steve attended the University of Wyoming before enlisting in the United States Air Force for four years. After returning from the service, he worked for Meadow Gold in Cheyenne. He later moved to Laramie and worked as grounds supervisor at Jacoby Golf Course for almost 40 years, retiring in 2013.

Steve was a kind, caring man and he had a great sense of humor. He and his family spent many fun times together, often playing cards and games.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Eugene; his sister, Barbara Lyn; and infant brother, Thomas Alva.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Mikesell Murdock of Burns; sister, Jeanette Bastian (Ted) of Burns; brother, Joe Mikesell (Sharon) of Carpenter; nephews and nieces, Curt Bastian (Concitta), Lori Romsa (Scott), Mathew Mikesell (Brianna), all of Burns; Jennifer Mikesell of Duncan, OK; Jeremy Mikesell of Carpenter; David Mikesell (Liz) of Glenrock, WY; several great nephews and nieces; three aunts; one uncle; and many cousins and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon, and Jacoby Funeral Home on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 10:00 A.M.
