Daycare goes private

Pine Bluffs Town Council took the first steps to relinquish control of the town's daycare during its meeting Monday night, voting unanimously to privatize the town's daycare amid budget concerns.

The town spends about $159,000 annually to subsidize the business, and councilors agreed that is too much.

Instead, town officials will move forward with negotiating a contract for Burns-based Alphabet Academy. Owner Jessica Loyd was in attendance at Monday night's meeting.

Also in attendance were a handful of Pine Bluffs Daycare employees, who expressed concerns about their job security as the entity...
