Memorial services for Irene Bricker will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 5, 2017 at Gillette Memorial Chapel. Irene Opal Bricker passed away in her home on May 1, 2017. She was able to remain in her home until her passing as was her request. She was born to Herbert Montgomery and Freeda Ruth McGown Shaw on December 1, 1921 on their home place on Garner Lake Road in Campbell County, Wyoming. Irene was a middle child, with an older brother, John and younger sister, Frances (Shaw) Groves. She attended all of her schooling years in Campbell County, Wyoming, in a country school not far from her house. She had perfect attendance for several of those years. Many times she had to travel through the snow, riding her horse, to accomplish that goal. She married her school sweetheart, Leslie Raymond Bricker on December 2, 1938 in Buffalo, Wyoming. They were able to celebrate 61 years of marriage before her beloved passed away on July 24, 1999. She loved animals and children of all ages. Her 95 years were well spent with raising animals, farming, ranching and raising her 4 children on the Bricker Ranch NE of Gillette, Wyoming for over 75 years. She also was a generous compassionate grandmother to 12, great-grandmother to 35 and great- great- grandmother to 13 at the time of her passing. Irene loved helping others in her community by volunteering for her many roles in Campbell County 4-H as a Leader, President, chaperone at camp and the state fair. She was also an election judge for Campbell County and served on the Wyoming Sheep Breeders Association and the Wyoming Wool Growers. As wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother she was preceded in death, by her brother John, her parents, husband and son-in-law, Terry Jenkins, Sr. Surviving family members are daughters, Loretta Jean (Troy) Freeburg, Cheyenne, WY, Clara Jane Jenkins, Loveland, CO; sons, L. Steven (Linda) Bricker, Gillette, WY and Stanley L (Diana) Bricker, Huntley, MT.Grandchildren surviving are Raymond (Kathy) Freeburg, Pine Bluffs, WY, Russell (Lesley) Boardman, Frannie, WY, Terry (Susan) Jenkins, Jr. Wheatland, WY, Jacque Moreland, Sheridan, WY, Jay(Deliah) Bricker, Highland, CA, Pepper (Rodney) West, Wausa, NB, Jeff (Leigha) Carsrud, Rapid City, SD , Tim (Allison) Carsrud. Gillette, WY, Andy (Jennifer) Carsrud, Gillette, WY, Corey Bricker, Belle Fourche, SD, Alex ( Mary) Bricker, Fort Collins, CO, Ryan (Danee) Bricker, Evergreen, CO. Her sister, Frances (Glenn) Groves, Hulett, WY, numerous nieces, great nieces and nephews also are surviving relatives. A memorial has been established for the Campbell County 4- H Youth Awards.
