Moorcraft shuts down Broncs, 28-0

The Burns football team was on the wrong end of a 28-0 score when they matched up against Moorcroft.

After a scoreless first quarter, Moorcroft broke open the scoring with six yard touchdown and 2-point conversion. Five minutes later and just before halftime, Moorcroft scored again. With another 2-point conversion, the hosts were ahead, 16-0.

"We're young and it's showing," said Broncs coach Marv Mirich. "We're playing a lot of sophomores and even have a freshman on the varsity team. Even our seniors haven't played a lot."

Mirich and his team aren't ready to pull up stakes just yet, however. With each comes valuable experience for the future.

"It's a work-in-progress," Mirich said. "I see things that are good out there. Unfortunately, we make mistakes and that really hurts us."

In the Moorcraft game, the Broncs gave up 296 yards of offense while gaining 149 of their own.  Another area being work on is turnovers. The Broncs had three give away while Moorcraft had no turnovers.

"Turnovers are real momentum killers," Mirich said. "Once we get to where we protect the ball better we will see more success."
