As our season is coming to a close we decided to run a little closer to home to wrap up the Junior High Season. Today the Pine Bluffs/Burns Cross Country team head to the Glenrock Golf Course for a dual with the Glenrock Cross Country teams. Most teams are at there regional races today before the big state meet next week in Sheridan, Wyo.
This course was tough. There were two horrendous hills that were challenges. The JH harriers has to run those hills only once, but the high school harriers had the challenge of running the loop for a second time. The hills were the only challenge today--we had the lovely Wyoming wind in our faces and at our sides for the whole race.
The races had a staggered start, but it worked well.
Today was the culminating event for our Junior High. We are down a few boys today due to wrestling beginning, but we had a nice meet today. Each of the JH races had 12 kiddos and we were able to get 3 in the top 5 for the girls and 1 for the boys. We are so excited to see a great group of 8th graders roll up to the HS team. We have a bright future in the program.
The high school boys race was great. We will see the Glenrock Herders next weekend too, so running along side them today was a good test run for next week. Of our nine runners, all but one made the top 10 this week--Jack Ikes ran well today and he finished in first with a time of 20:22, he was followed close by David Gordon at 20:27. Can’t wait to see these boys rock the course next week.
Our ladies fought hard, but today was not the day for PRs, today was about conquering a massive hill and rocketing towards the finish. Of the 15 HS girls that ran today 6 were able to make top 10 with Piper Perez placing 1st overall at 22:49. The rest of the top ten ladies finished within 3:15 of that time. Our state team is pretty set, but this week will tell us whether or not due to injuries and pain during the week.
Times have been recorded by Glenrock High School.
Thank you all for your support of our PB/B XC team for the 2017 season. We are anxious for next weekend--please come support us on the VA Grounds in Sheridan, Wyoming. Boys will be racing at 11:00am and girls will be racing at 12:30.
