Space Exploration at the Library

The month of December for all three of the Libraries (Cheyenne, Burns and Pine Bluffs) take you into space!

Dinner and a movie will be “The Martian” on December 5 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Space poster will be on display throughout the Pine Bluffs library, come check out the asteroids, planets and galaxies.

Friday movies will have a space theme during December with the exception of Dec. 22, it will be Santa Paws 2. Other movies in December: Dec. 1 Space Chimps, Dec. 8 The Last Mimzy, Dec. 15 Escape to Planet Earth or Dec. 29 Fly me to the Moon. All afternoon movie times are 1:30-3:30 p.m. Maybe you would like to create your own Saturn, from a foam ball and old compact disc. It would make for a great room decoration or Christmas tree ornament, stop by daily Dec.1 – Dec. 31 at the Pine Bluffs branch. Supplies will be available for this craft.

Cheyenne library will exhibit “Discover Space: A Cosmic Journey,” a traveling science museum, take a shout at building your own solar systems on a 42” touch table, learn how telescopes work or try to save Earth from an asteroid impact. Available daily from December 27-March 27 during library hours .

Dec. 7,14,21,28 from 10:00 -10:45 a.m PreK youngsters can come for an interactive story-time session. This can help practice new skills with books, songs, rhymes, movement and more.

Themes by week: are Dec. 7-All About Me, Dec. 14-Here Comes Santa, Dec. 21-Starry Night, ending the month with Dec. 28-Space Explores.

Burns Library will be doing a Dinner and Book Club, for the adult readers. Stop in and pick up your copy of the book then on Dec. 12 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., bring a dish to add to the potluck dinner and discussion of the popular book. Dec. 5, 10:15-11:00 a.m., will be interactive story-time for PreK youngsters. Dec. 9, 9:30-11:30 a.m. come to the “Holly Jolly Christmas,” including games, crafts, cookie decorating and holiday stories, open to all ages.
