H. Richard "Dick" Lewis

H. Richard Lewis (Dick) was born January 14, 1928 to Harry D. Lewis and Clara G. De Longpre Lewis on a farm north of Broadwater, Nebraska. He was the youngest of five children.  Dick graduated from Albin High School, Albin, Wyoming in 1945. He received his BA degree from Olivet Nazarene University, Kankakee, Illinois in 1949. He received his MA degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1955.

Dick was a veteran of the Korean War. He served in the 5th Infantry Regimental Combat Team from 1952-1954. 

He is being remembered by his wife, Bobbie of Greeley, Colorado, his daughter and husband, Kathi and Ralph Van Soest of Greeley, Colorado and by his son and wife, Rob and Kathy Lewis of Gill, Colorado.  He also is being remembered by his grand children Eric and Heidi Van Soest and children Madison, Zach, Cooper and Charlee of Greeley, Colorado, Lindsay and Chris Gentle with children Peyton and Avery of Windsor, Colorado, and Amanda and Howard Wright with children Alyssa and Eden of San Jose, California. Also, James and Corin Womer and children Savannah, Robert and Delaney of Greeley, Colorado, Brad and Bree Kyger and children Braylon and Brex of Windsor, Colorado and JJ and Nicole Buxman and daughter Kayla of Greeley, Colorado.

Dick's career was in public education with a total of 32 years.  He was a school principal at Nunn High School, Kersey High School, Holly High School, Broomfield High School and Douglas and Arapaho's Elementary Schools in the Boulder Valley School system. He was the founding principal of Broomfield High School.

Dick is proceeded in death by his parents, Harry and Clara Lewis, and his three brothers and one sister: Donald, VH, Vesta Marie and Paul. 

Dick lived his life serving the Lord and was a member of the Greeley First Church of the Nazarene and the Westminister Church of the Nazarene. He served on the church boards and as a Sunday School teacher along with his wife for many years.

To his family and friends, he suggests that they not mourn but enjoy the time of being together.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Greeley First Church of the Nazarene, 2515 16th Street, Greeley, Colorado. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
