One of the more important holidays of the year occurs next week...Thanksgiving Day. Started by a proclamation by President George Washington in 1789, this day was intended to be a national day of thanksgiving for the bounty God had given to our nation. It was only celebrated intermittently until President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it a federal holiday in 1863.
