New Certification Saves Taxpayers and Helps Those with Drug Addiction

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office’s mental health unit has been certified by the Department of Health to complete Addiction Severity Index (ASI) assessments. Inmates cannot apply for addiction treatment beds or be sentenced until an ASI has been completed. In the past, the ASI assessments could take months to be completed, costing taxpayers and delaying treatment.
