Cooper Sanchez Corraled Grand Champion at Catch-A-Calf Contest - National Western Stock Show

For the last ninety years kids go out into the arena to catch a calf to raise and show for the following year. It began in 1935 with 10 kids catching 10 calves. Now, the contest is set up for 40 kids and 40 calves. Every year the members of Future Farmers of America or 4-H apply to do the program. Once they are approved the kids go catch a calf during the National Western Stock Show. The calf and youth have a sponsor. The sponsor supports the youth through the time with calf.
